Amid the colorful glow of hundreds of Chinese lanterns, more than 230 clients and 43 Thompson Coburn attorneys mixed and mingled at the 2012 Women’s Event, held June 5 at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
As the historic Transit of Venus passed overhead, guests dined on Asian-inspired appetizers and stopped by a gelato cart to sample a variety of fresh, creamy flavors. Client attendees included women from Bunge, U.S. Bank, UniGroup, and First Bank, among others.
The warm, clear evening was the perfect backdrop for the main event: the 2012 Lantern Festival. At dusk, most event guests remained in the garden to watch garden staff light the elaborate outdoor lanterns. The displays — crafted of silk and steel — included illuminated water lilies, imposing terracotta warriors, pandas peeking from behind bamboo shoots, and a 137-foot fire-red dragon parading at the garden’s front doors.
On her way home, each client received her own outdoor metal lantern.
